Aaron Shneyer’s roots, rock and soul driven music celebrates life and hopes to heal our divides. He lives in Washington, DC, and performs with a powerhouse band of DC’s finest jazz, gospel, world music, funk and reggae musicians. By day he leads music-driven bridge building efforts with youth in Israel/Palestine (www.heartbeat.fm) and violence prevention programs with youth artists in DC through OneCommonUnity.org.
With influences like Caetano Veloso, Paul Simon, Miriam Makeba and Jimi Hendrix and finding himself in a similar sonic forest as Nick Mulvey and Jorge Drexler, Aaron weaves together elements of Rock n Roll, Folk, and the musics of South America and the Middle East.
Aaron has performed with luminary artists including Bobby McFerrin, Mira Awad, TootArd, Sameh “Saz” Zakout, Gabriel Meyer Halevy, and Nava Tehila. He’s a 2018, 2020, and 2022 Artist Fellow with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Musician in Residence at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue.
His just released album, Love Rebellion, culminates a 12 year journey jumping worlds between Israelis and Palestinians, jumping to some other continents, meeting himself, and finding his partner in life. His music cries out hope and urges us to lead with love.
